Pete and I were chatting on the phone one autumn day in 2020. He spoke to me from a spot he was sitting at after hiking up a hill close to his house. I was sitting in my room, gazing out of the window enjoying the serene warm colours of fall. Somewhere in between he lost network coverage.

The conversation might have been left incomplete on the phone, verbally-- a common error in human communication these days, but we spoke through music. How do friends speak when they're cut off from each other because of 'logistical' reasons and can no longer talk through 'words'? Pete knew how.

He played a riff on that hill following our conversation. The next day, without any prior words exchanged, i receive a short clip from him playing that same riff he had worked on on the hill. I knew then that Pete had managed to communicate to me and managed to complete our conversation that had gotten cut earlier. He had managed to do that through his music, making up for the words lost in the invisible networks we are connected by, despite being so far away. I fell for that beautiful piece of music he had managed to create as i heard it. I asked him if he would like me to try something out on this and he agreed! Lucky me!!! We were surprised to see, how a little chat from our own Homes, separated by continents, we somehow still managed to connect and communicate to each other through this song. We agreed on calling, "Home Away from Home".
